Declaration of Intent

June 1, 2016

The "Declaration of Intent" is simply a series of questions posed by the Officiant to the couple. You will have done this at your local County Clerks office with the raising of your hand when asked if your legally free to marry.

I will ask the couple "Are you legally and spiritually free to marry this man or this woman.  The couple will answer, independant of each other, my question verbally, their intent of joining their lives in marriage with an affirmative "I DO".

The "Declarations of Intent" is a mission statements of the wedding ceremony. The Declarations of Intent, along with the exchanges of Vows and Rings lay the foundation for virtually all wedding ceremonies.
